Insurance investigations
A claim must rest on facts. We investigate for insurers, adjusters, employers and lawyers. Two kinds of files: cargo losses and personal claims.
- Part 1
- Cargo losses: circumstances, carrier liability, value and condition of the goods.
- Part 2
- Personal claims: disability, workplace injuries, road accidents.
- Deliverable
- Independent report, usable as evidence.
Situations we handle
Cargo loss — circumstances
Establish how the loss happened: theft, damage, disputed delivery, broken procedure.
Carrier liability
Check that the carrier and subcontractors met their obligations along the chain.
Value and condition of goods
Document the type, quantity, condition and value of the goods involved.
Disability
Verify a person’s activities in public places when a claim raises serious doubts.
Workplace injuries (CNESST)
Establish the circumstances of a reported accident. Check the claimant’s activities, within the law. CNESST is Québec’s workplace safety board.
Road accidents (SAAQ)
Reconstruct the facts and check statements, for the insurer or lawyers. SAAQ is Québec’s auto insurance board.
Doubtful claims
Signs of fraud, gaps between statements and observed facts, documents to verify.
Method
Established facts, not impressions.
- 01
File review
Review of the claim, statements and documents to define what must be checked.
- 02
Field and document work
Observations, interviews, public record searches, surveillance in public places when needed.
- 03
Documented findings
Time-stamped photos and video, chain of custody, signed written statements.
- 04
Independent report
Established facts, cited sources, no conclusion beyond what the evidence shows.
For the insurer
Decide on verifiable facts
An independent report that helps accept or contest a claim.
For the employer
Clarify a workplace injury file
Establish the facts of a reported accident and the worker’s activities, respecting their rights.
For the lawyer
Admissible evidence
Structured reports and investigator testimony in support of the case.
Frequently asked questions
Do you work for insurers as well as claimants’ lawyers?
We accept mandates from insurers, employers and lawyers once we confirm there is no conflict of interest. Our findings are the same whoever the client is.
Is surveillance of a claimant legal?
Yes, when it rests on serious grounds and takes place in public places, without intruding on private life. We refuse mandates outside this framework.
Can your reports be filed as evidence?
They are written for it: dated facts, cited sources, chain of custody. Admissibility is for the court to decide, and the investigator can testify.
